Introducing Robin
Robin Taylor is a 48-year-old who lives in Caledon with her husband and two kids. Robin and her family made the move from the city to the country when she was in her late thirties. It was a difficult decision to relocate followed by a challenging adjustment but she has made deep and meaningful connections and friends in Caledon and is surrounded by beauty every day. As difficult and scary as it was at the beginning, she felt it was good to shake things up and make it an adventure. She told herself she would give it 3 years and never looked back. Then at 45, Robin went to Costa Rica to do her yoga teacher training. She has been teaching yoga for almost 3 years and is now training to become a certified Thai Massage Therapist.
What would you say has been the biggest shift in your life since turning 40?
I would say the biggest shift has been becoming comfortable with my strengths and weaknesses and understanding the importance of who I spend time with; surrounding myself with good people and getting rid of any negative relationships.
When do you feel you are most powerful?
I feel my most powerful after or during an intense yoga practice. If I feel physically strong I feel better and calmer. I also feel powerful when surrounded by friends who I love, who inspire me and love me.
What are the top 3 most important things to you right now?
Sleep (makes me a much nicer person), yoga (also makes me a much nicer person), family (seeing my kids grow into kind, thoughtful, and fun people), and work (makes me feel whole). Yes, that is FOUR things.
How do you make sure your actions are aligned with what’s most important to you?
Constantly reminding myself and my children about what is important in life and then trying to be true to that.
What seeds are you planting today for the future?
Evolving my business to develop and grow with me. Taking control of my health so I can be healthy, strong, and vibrant for myself, my husband and my children.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in redesigning midlife?
Take time away from all the “noise” and busyness of daily life and think about what you want. Make small changes to move forward. Even baby steps are steps forward. Ask for help and inspiration from others.
